Finding My Direction in the Animation Industry

Since starting my studies in Character Animation, I have gradually become more certain about the direction I want to pursue in the future. Although the animation industry contains many different roles and production pipelines, I found myself consistently drawn toward character-focused work, especially stylised 2D animation and original IP design.

Before coming to the UK, my understanding of animation was mainly based on visual aesthetics and technical production. However, during my studies, I began to understand animation more deeply as a form of performance and storytelling. Through projects involving character acting, visual development and narrative design, I realised that I am most interested in creating characters that audiences can emotionally connect with and remember.

One thing that became especially important to me was developing a clearer artistic identity. Instead of trying to work in every possible area, I started focusing more specifically on the areas I genuinely enjoy and want to improve in long term. For me, this includes stylised character design, expressive 2D animation and original IP creation.

Although I still have a lot to learn, I feel that my experiences so far have helped me better understand both my strengths and my future goals. More importantly, they helped me realise that my interest in animation is not only academic, but something I genuinely hope to continue pursuing as a long-term career.
