Building My Portfolio Through Character Design and 2D Animation

As a Character Animation student, I have gradually realised that the area I am most passionate about is character-driven storytelling. Although animation involves many technical aspects, what interests me the most is how a character can express personality, emotion and narrative through movement and design. Because of this, I hope to continue developing my career in IP design and 2D animation after graduation.

Recently, I have been focusing on building my portfolio around original character animation and visual storytelling. Rather than only presenting static illustrations, I want my portfolio to demonstrate how my characters move, react and perform on screen. Many of the projects in my portfolio are based on my previous animation works developed during my studies.

During this process, I realised that creating a strong portfolio is not simply about showing technical ability. It is also about presenting a clear artistic direction and professional identity. Through my portfolio, I want to communicate my interest in stylised 2D animation, original IP development and character-focused storytelling.

As I continue improving my work, I hope my portfolio will become not only a collection of projects, but also a reflection of the kind of animator and designer I want to become in the future.
